Through the Professional Education and Training (PET) Project (generously supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada), the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants is able to offer support for Individual and In-House Group training of Settlement Staff. In 2007-08 the project was broadened to include all staff funded under the Newcomer Settlement Program of the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI), as well as specific positions within the ELT and LINC programs.
Settlement staff whose positions are funded under the Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Program (ISAP), and the Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP) such as: Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), HOST, Job Search Workshops (JSW), Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS), are eligible to apply. This includes all staff categories including frontline workers, managers, coordinators, and executive directors.
Coordinators and Managers in Enhanced Language Training (ELT) or Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs are also eligible for financial support.
Staff who are eligible under these funded categories may apply for and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $500 upon completion of the approved course.
Agencies which are funded to provide these programs may apply for and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $2000 for In-House Group Training designed to enhance organizational capacity and knowledge sharing.
